Texas Instruments introduced a very powerful Translator in a housing similar to the PS-3600 Databank.
Due to limitations of the internal memory two different models were available:
• Version 1: French, English, German
• Version 2: French, English, Italian
The internal memory stores about 10,000 words, 420 business words and 920 complete sentences in 13 different categories. By simply choosing a word or sentence in one of the three languages the other two languages could be displayed.
The
hardware of the PS-5800 uses a TMP0230 microcomputer manufactured by Toshiba, a
display driver T6A21 and two ROM's (Read Only Memory) with a combined size of
512 kBytes.
The Translator traces back to the PS-5600
and the smaller sibling PS-5400.
