This Texas Instruments Language Tutor was manufactured in November 1979 by
Texas Instruments in Midland, Texas (Date code MTA 4779 » wk 47 yr 1979).
The pictured speech module translates from English, French and Spanish to spoken German.

Doth the battery cover and speech module cover removed.
Inside the Language Tutor. The Speech Synthesizer is visible,
the Microcontroller still hidden under the Display Module. 
The vacuum fluorescent display (VFD) of the Language Tutor.
The removed display gives access to the TMC0275 Microcontroller,
probably a member of the TMS1270 family.
