The sales box of a Speak and Spell Version 3 sold in 1984 in the US.



This Speak & Spell Version 3 was manufactured in December 1983 by
Texas Instruments in Abilene, TX (Date code ATA 4983 » wk 49 yr 1983).

The printed circuit board (PCB) of the Speak & Spell Version 3 is significantly
smaller than its predecessor.

The PCB of the Speak & Spell Version 3 is centered around a TMC0271 Microcontroller,
a TMC0281 Voice Synthesis Processor (VSP), a TMC0350/CD2350 Voice Synthesis Memory (VSM),
and a small power supply and 8 character VF-Display. Please notice the extra space for a second VSM.
