The PS-6560i replaced the earlier PS-6500 within one year. Please notice that the featured PS-6560i was manufactured in Taiwan, while we know the PS-6500 manufactured in Thailand. Nevertheless, the functionality changes between the two Peresonal Organizers are minor:
• Using the
PS-6155 Dock-station
cradle to synchronize data was optimized. • The display of the organizer supporting 4 lines by 24 characters was enhanced with a greenish backlite feature called Indiglo. |
The PS-6565i Personal Organizer & PC Connectivity Kit bundled the PS-6560i with the PS-6155.
The
LCD screen of the PS-6560i displays only 4 lines by 24 characters. Unfortunately
the characters are difficult to read. Compare it yourself with the crystal clear
letters of the PS-6700.
Everything else of the PS-6560i seems to be identical with the PS-6500. It took another year until the PocketMate 200 appeared with a better keyboard layout.
Dismantling
the PS-6560i reveals no surprises, the printed circuit board (PCB) looks very
similiar to the PS-6500 and the main Integrated Circuits (ICs) are identical. A
Toshiba - Z-80 based - T6M83 microcontroller surrounded by 128k RAM, 64k ROM and a display controller.
The related PS-6460i and PS-6360i
use an identical PCB but got smaller memory chips assembled.
