This Simpson Sears Digi·Matic 8 was manufactured by Bowmar - the inventor of the first "True-Pocket-Size" calculator. Don't miss the famous Bowmar 901B based mainly on components of the Texas Instruments company.
Dismantling
the Digi·Matic 8 - designed about one year after the 901B - reveals still a pure
TI design. We notice the original Klixon™
keypad and the TMS0103 Integrated circuit combined with two display
drivers.
It took another year before Bowmar changed the strategy and replaced TI as
supplier of the main components. Find with the Bowmar MX55
a good example of a TI-free product.
